DAV Auxiliary Elects Sandy Dobmeier National Commander

LAS VEGAS—Vowing to stand strong now and always alongside the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) to build better lives for America’s disabled veterans and their families, Sandy Dobmeier, a life member of Auxiliary Unit 2 in Grand Forks, N.D. was elected National Commander of the quarter-million-member DAV Auxiliary today at the 87th National Convention of the DAV and Auxiliary in Las Vegas.

Commander Dobmeier joined the Auxiliary in 1984.  Her membership eligibility is through her husband, Past National Commander and current DAV National Judge Advocate Michael Dobmeier.  They have two children, Michelle and Mark.

Highly active since joining the Auxiliary, Commander Dobmeier has held all unit and state elected offices, and served on and chaired various boards and committees, to include the Unit Legislation Committee, Junior Activities Chairperson and Unit Adjutant; and North Dakota State Department Adjutant.

At the National level, Commander Dobmeier was elected 4th and 1st Junior Vice Commander beginning in 2005, and Senior Vice Commander in 2007, and has served on the National Executive Committee.

Commander Dobmeier is the Visitor Services Manager at the Greater Grand Forks Convention and Visitors Bureau, where she has been employed for more than 22 years. Her duties include managing the Visitor Center, working with the group tour market and other administrative duties.

In addition to her career and Auxiliary activities, Commander Dobmeier says she enjoys spending time at a lake near her home, fishing, flower gardening and trying to keep up with family activities.

The quarter-million-member DAV Auxiliary is a nonprofit auxiliary organization of the 1.4 million-member Disabled American Veterans founded in 1920 and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1932, which represents this nation’s disabled veterans.
